From the necessity of mending stitches for rural Japanese communities to a celebrated art form, the beauty of Sashiko lies in its simplicity. Each design carries a cultural significance and regional identity that reflects the natural world. Guided by the quiet rhythm of Sashiko's running stitches known as "little stabs" 刺し子, this traditional Japanese hand-stitching technique offers a moment of focus, stillness, beauty and connection to craft. It is an Introductory small project workshop situable for beginners with/without sewing experience as participants choose to hand stitch either a coaster or a brooch. Join us for an afternoon of mindful sewing, and leave with a crafted piece that reflects both tradition and tranquility.

Using simple running stitches, they created gemetric patterns over worn areas, giving fabric a new life and supporting sustainable living. Overtime, Sashiko evolved into a cherished art form that reflects Japanese values of simplicity, harmony and respect for nature. Today, its motifs are widely used in crafts and textiles, adding strength abd a unique aesthetic touch. In this Basic Beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn the calm, meditative rhythm of Sashiko handstitching. Along the way, they will practice patience, precision and mindful stitching while embracing the beauty of small imperfections. The workshop welcomes participants with/without sewing experience. Participants will learn both decorative Sashiko stitches on a Hitomezashi motif and practical Boro repair techniques for sustainable use.

We are excited to prepare an unforgettable Artistic Indigo Shibori Dye Silk Scarves Workshop! The traditional fabric resists dyeing technique with thousands-year history is called ‘Shibori’ in Japan, and named ‘绞缬’ in China. The needles are threaded on the fabric with painted guidelines, and the thread is finally tightened to achieve the patterns. With a rustic charm, vibrant color and exclusive pattern, you will get two natural indigo dyed daily-wear silk scarves (55cm*55cm & 68cm*68cm) and a tie dye scrunchie after this workshop. You can practice and explore your own unique shibori motifs. Let's make a unique gift for you or your loved ones.

Join us for a natural plant paste dye & sew pouch workshop! In this hands-on session, participants will explore the art of plant-based dyeing, creating their own pouch with beautiful natural colors extracted from leaves, fruits roots or stems of plants materials. You will begin by choosing from a variety of stencil designs and natural pigments to create unique patterns on plain white fabric. Once your fabric design is complete, it will be carefully crafted into a functional pouch. To add an extra touch of creativity, you may also choose to finish your piece with an optional layer of natural indigo over-dyeing. This immersive workshop combines design, craftsmanship, and sustainability, offering every participant a meaningful keepsake to take home.

Unlock the creative potential of your sewing machine with textile artist, Agy's, Free Motion Embroidery (FME) classes! Join us for a day filled with exploration and hands-on learning as we dive into the world of free motion stitching.

Pre-Requisite: Participants must know how to operate a sewing machine.

Create your own “painting” with free motion embroidery (FME) on the sewing machine‬ ‭ and using dissolvable fabric. This is a workshop where you can unleash your‬ ‭ creativity and learn under the careful guidance of Agy!‬ ‭

Pre-Requisite: ‭Participants must know the basics of free motion embroidery.‬

4 Sessions (2.5 hours/session) | Total of 10 hours

This course focuses on digital fashion illustration (womenswear) using Procreate on iPad. Procreate is a popular app for illustrators/designers/creatives. You will be guided through the process of designing and drawing clothes, aided by the tools and functions of Procreate. You will illustrate a mini-collection of 3 outfits to complete the course.

1 Session (3 hours/session) | Total of 3 hours

Interested in exploring digital illustration for womenswear? This session will introduce the basic functions and tools of the Procreate drawing app relevant to fashion illustration. You will draw an outfit using a straight pose figure and try basic colouring/rendering.

This class is suitable for beginners.

1 Session (3 hours/session) | Total of 3 hours

Interested in exploring hand-drawn fashion illustration? In this introductory session, you will learn to draw a basic fashion figure and simple outfit(s). If time permits, you will try basic rendering using colour pencils and/or copic markers.

4 Sessions (2.5 hours/session) | Total of 10 hours

This course focuses on hand-drawn illustration using pencil and copic markers. Being able to express your ideas is an essential skill for any aspiring fashion designer. You will be guided through the process of illustrating clothes in a clear, visually appealing form. You will illustrate a mini-collection of 3 outfits to complete the course.

4 Sessions (2.5 hours/session) | Total of 10 hours

This is an intermediate course for hand-drawn fashion illustration. Students will learn to create a variety of fashion poses, practise drawing faces and hairstyles, illustrate more complex garments (eg. with drape, volume etc.), and advance their skills in colouring and rendering (texture, prints etc.). The focus will be on mastering pencil drawing and copic marker techniques. Students will complete ~5 fully-rendered outfits to complete the course.

2 Sessions | Total of 5.5 hours

Deep dive into amigurumi, the Japanese art of crocheting plushies. This is a Level 2 course, so you should have already taken the Fundamentals of Crochet (Level 1) course, or have some prior knowledge on basic crochet stitches (single crochet).

Pre-Requisite: Attended Fundamentals of Crochet (Level 1) OR already had some crochet experience (know how to single crochet).

2 Sessions (3 hours/session) | Total of 6 hours

This workshop will introduce hand embroidery techniques as a way to embellish your clothes. Learn various methods to transfer images onto fabric and try your hands at sewing simple outlines and filling embroidery stitches.

This class is suitable for beginners.

1 Session (2.5 hours/session) | Total of 2.5 hours

Sew a little kitty to call your own! Learn basic plush toy sewing techniques through the making of this mini cat brooch. Simple embroidery stitches will also be taught to create the facial expression for your cat.

1 Session (3 hours/session) | Total of 3 hours

Create your own masterpieces based on our designs inspired by local birds in Singapore. Designs will be provided during the session and as a take-home pattern sheet for further explorations beyond the workshop.

Pre-Requisite: Participants must have done hand-sewing before.

2 Sessions (4 hours/session) | Total of 8 hours

You will learn how to cut and sew pretty bralettes and panties and explore the intricacies of handling lace fabrics and adding stylish details to your lingerie designs.

This class is suitable for beginners.

2 Sessions (2 hours/session) | Total of 4 hours

You will learn how to make fabric tubes that are the basis of the Pan-kou. From there, we will proceed to learn the steps of making a Button knot, which will be used as the knob for all your fasteners. You will then learn to make a basic straight Pan-kou, a Pipa knot Pan-kou, and a twirl Pan-kou.

Pre-Requisite: Participants must have hand and finger dexterity and basic ability to use sewing machine.
