Fashion Illustration 101 (Womenswear)
4 session workshop | Total of 10 hours (2.5 hrs/session)
This course focuses on hand-drawn illustration using pencil and copic markers. Being able to express your ideas is an essential skill for any aspiring fashion designer. You will be guided through the process of illustrating clothes in a clear, visually appealing form. You will illustrate a mini-collection of 3 outfits to complete the course.
The following components will be covered.
- Creating a basic fashion figure/croquis/pose
- Creating a basic fashion head/face
- Doing croquis sketches
- Drawing clothes on the figure
- Rendering with copic markers
This course is appropriate for beginners with an interest in pursuing fashion design or exploring fashion illustration. Drawing materials will be provided for in-class use. Depending on your direction, you may choose to purchase additional materials (paper, pencils, comic markers etc.) to complete your work.
Weekly homework will be assigned if you are unable to complete the work within class time. Regular feedback will be given. If you require additional help, please contact the instructor to discuss.
Classes start on time, please arrive 5 minutes earlier if possible.
About the Instructor
Cheng Yi Lin graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She worked as an Assistant Designer in New York City for 2 years. Subsequently, she has done freelance projects in textile design and illustration, as well as live illustration at events. Her clients include Shu Uemura Singapore.
