Meet Our Founders


The three founders of Fashion Makerspace
Hailey — Ken — Shareen
Inspired by the culture & practices of makerspaces in the west, Fashion Makerspace was born to inspire growth & fuel the passion of learning in a conducive, open & friendly environment. Since 2015, we began our journey to provide a creative, friendly and nurturing environment in the fields of fashion, dressmaking & digital design for our valued students & partners. Aspiring to bring artisanal sewing & patternmaking skills into the makers’ hands, and letting them into the gratifying experience of realising their creations. Over the years, we have grown into a community bonded by creative skills, knowledge & camaraderie.

We hope to enable everyone and anyone with this treasured craft, from kids to adults, whether for their personal interest, cause or livelihood, to pursue this journey with us and along the way, delve deeper into how our skills can help others and the environment.

Shareen Lim

Co-founder & Trainer

Trained at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, Shareen brings global industry experience and a deep passion for learning. She’s worked in LA as a fashion and textile designer, interned at BCBG Max Azria, and earned top placements in design competitions with FIDM and Cotton Incorporated. At Fashion Makerspace, Shareen blends her technical expertise with a warm, collaborative teaching approach — making design accessible, and deeply rewarding for every student.

Hailey Lim

Co-founder & Trainer

Hailey holds a degree in Fashion Design and Textiles from LASALLE College of the Arts, graduating with 2nd Upper Honours in 2013. Her work has earned multiple accolades, including a Top 5 placement in LASALLE’s Graduate Collection and a showcase on Germany’s Next Top Model. With experience in sportswear design, knit fabrics, and production management, Hailey brings both creative flair and technical precision to her classes — guiding students with a calm, practical approach rooted in real-world industry know-how

Rosemelin

Trainer

With over 30 years of hands-on experience, Melin brings a wealth of practical knowledge to every class. She discovered her passion for tailoring after becoming a mother and hasn’t looked back since. Known for her nurturing spirit and sharp sense of humour. Melin creates a warm, encouraging space where learners feel supported, confident, and eager to grow.

Rachel

Trainer

Originally trained in Aerospace Electronics, Rachel followed her passion and earned a Degree in Fashion Design and Textile from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2018, specialising in Creative Pattern Cutting. Known for her playful creativity and flair for bespoke design, she brings energy, style, and thoughtfulness to every class. Rachel loves guiding passionate learners through the rewarding journey of making - one stitch at a time.

Faathimah

Trainer

Faathimah first stepped into the studio while working hard on her Fashion Technology diploma, seeking help and eventually finding her place. She steadily worked through every class, and her dedication didn’t go unnoticed. Now an instructor, she is inspired to inspire, sharing her love for making with others and connecting people from all walks of life through a common craft. Once shy and unsure, she’s become known for her big smile, quick wit, and the warmth she brings into every class. Faathimah’s bright energy and playful spirit make each session a blend of heart, skill, and laughter.

Regine

Trainer

Regine studied Fashion Design at Temasek Polytechnic in 2016 and has a strong appreciation for the entire creative process from concept to completion. She values hands-on learning and thoughtful craftsmanship, which led her to Fashion Makerspace. With a calm and encouraging approach, Regine enjoys sharing her knowledge and helping others find joy in making.

Nadiah

Course Advisor

Nadiah keeps the heart of Fashion Makerspace running smoothly. With a bachelor’s degree and a passion for helping people, she ensures that every part of the day — from class logistics to student support flows seamlessly. Known for her efficiency, warmth, and can-do spirit, Nadiah brings order to chaos and is always ready with a smile and a solution.

Shafiqah

Course Advisor

A graduate of Temasek Polytechnic in Apparel Design and Merchandising, Shafiqah brings her background in retail and customer service to create positive experiences for everyone who walks through our doors. Friendly, approachable, and full of light, she helps keep Fashion Makerspace running with warmth and care behind the scenes.

Josephine

Operations Support

Jo first joined Fashion Makerspace as a student, where her warm personality and willingness to help stood out immediately. Invited to join the team, she now supports daily operations with the same positivity and care — always ready to lend a hand and make everyone feel at home.
