This course focuses on digital fashion illustration (womenswear) using Procreate on iPad. Procreate is a popular app for illustrators/designers/creatives. You will be guided through the process of designing and drawing clothes, aided by the tools and functions of Procreate. You will illustrate a mini-collection of 3 outfits to complete the course.

ABOUT YI LIN:

Cheng Yi Lin graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. She worked as an Assistant Designer in New York City for 2 years. Subsequently, she has done freelance commissions in textile design and illustration, as well as live illustration at events. Her clients include The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Chaumet, Parfums Christian Dior etc.

What You Will Learn

Lesson 1:
- Basic tools & functions of Procreate
- Draw a practice fashion figure + flat colouring
Lesson 2:
- Intro to Design: draw an original look inspired by photo(s)
- Create design variations
Lesson 3:
- Draw a simple fashion head (face + hair); add simple shoes
- Shading/rendering using Procreate brushes
Lesson 4:
- Put together a collection of ~3 outfits
- Optional: draw outfits on different poses

As a bonus, you will receive figure templates in digital format and Procreate colour palette for skin tones.

Important note

  • iPads and Apple Pencils will be provided for in-class use. If preferred, students may bring their own iPad to class.
  • Demonstrations will be done using female figure(s) with a focus on womenswear. You may try drawing menswear/kidswear on your own, using the same Procreate tools and process. Please speak to the instructor if you need additional guidance.
  • For ages 13 and above.

Classes start on time, please arrive 5 minutes earlier if possible.
