Welcome to our second WSQ-certified foundation course on how to create your own dress with lining!

Important note

  • All sewing tools & domestic sewing machines are provided for physical class use.
  • Fabrics and zippers will not be provided. You will be briefed on any further materials needed during class.
  • There are NO charges on filling in the registration form. However, please keep a lookout on your email as a separate invoice will be sent to you.

Sewing Experience
  • If I have no sewing experience, can I join the courses?

You may join our Basic Fashion and Fabrics courses as we will be teaching from the basics to gain the skills and technical knowledge in garment-making.

As for our Intermediate Fashion and Fabrics courses, you will need to attend any of our basic drafting & sewing courses. You may click on the link above. Otherwise, please contact us to discuss your level of experience.

  • Who is eligible for SkillsFuture Credits?

All Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above will be able to access their SkillsFuture Credit account once they have received their account activation letter. Those turning 25 years old will receive the letter by the first quarter of the same year.

  • Are Permanent Residents eligible for the SkillsFuture Credits?
    Unfortunately, no. The credits are only applicable for Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above.
    SkillsFuture Credits Claim Process
    • How do I check my SkillsFuture Credit balance?

    To check your SkillsFuture Credit balance, follow these steps:

    1. Visit the MySkillsFuture portal and click on the 'Login' button on the top right corner of the page. On the pop-up login screen, click on the 'SingPass' button and enter your credentials.
    2. Click on the drop-down menu at the top right corner of the page. In the menu, click on the 'SkillsFuture Credit' button. This will take you to the Account Details page.
    3. Check your available SkillsFuture Credit on the left-hand box.
    • How do I submit my SkillsFuture Credit claim?

    You will have to first enrol for the course with us. Upon the successful course enrolment, you can then submit a claim from SkillsFuture Credits by following the steps below:

    1. Visit the MySkillsFuture portal and click on the 'Login' button on the top right corner of the page. On the pop-up login screen, click on the 'SingPass' button and enter your credentials.
    2. Select the 'Submit SkillsFuture Credit Claims' button on the homepage.
    3. Ensure that you have selected 'Submit a Claim' on the header. You can then search our course title/reference number.
    4. Select the course run/start date.
    5. Input the (1) Amount of SkillsFuture Credit to Claim and (2) Fee Payable by You. (1) The amount that you would like to claim. (2) The final course fees that are reflected on your invoice.
    6. Upload the invoice that was sent to you after your successful course enrolment. You should have received a separate email for this.
    7. Click on the 'Review' button. Check if all the information submitted is correct. Once everything is in order, click on the checkbox 'I have read and agreed to the SkillsFuture Credit Terms and Conditions'.
    8. Click on the 'Agree and Submit' button once a pop-up for your declaration appears.

      Enrolment Process
      1. Once you have selected your preferred course, kindly fill in the required details on our registration form at the bottom of the webpage. Do ensure that all details submitted are accurate to ensure no delays in the enrolment process. We will then check and confirm your grant eligibility on our end.
      2. An email will be sent to the email address that you registered on our website. It indicates the course fee breakdown and the information required from your end. You are required to reply to that email to confirm your enrolment.
      3. An invoice will be sent to you in a separate email and there will be some instructions on how to make the Nett Payment or claim your SkillsFuture Credits.
      4. For students who are claiming their SkillsFuture Credits, kindly read through the steps above under the 'How do I submit my SkillsFuture Credit claim?' category. As for students who are making the payment out of pocket, there are two payment methods:

      For students who have made the claim or payment, do send us a screenshot of your Claim ID/Claim Status or the payment transaction to finance.fashionmakerspace@gmail.com.

      If there are no available dates that fit your schedule, you may click HERE and fill in your preferred timeslot. We will take note of your preferred date/time and may publish it for the new course dates. You will be notified once they have been published.

      Entry Requirements
      • Are there any language requirements?

      Yes. As our courses and assessments are conducted in English, students would require basic knowledge and command of English to enrol for our courses.

      • What are the documents required to enrol to the course?

      We would require a documentation/screenshot of the latest academic/WPLN certification from our students. Students who are aged above 60 and do not possess any certification, kindly contact contact us at +65 8830 3753 for further assistance.

      • Do I need an account for MySkillsFuture account?

      Yes, trainees are required to have an account throughout the course. For foreign trainees who are sitting for the assessment, they are also required to have an account to access and download their E-Cert upon completion of the course.

      • Do I need a SingPass account for the course?

      Yes, trainees are required to have a SingPass account throughout the course. For foreign trainees who are sitting for the assessment, they are also required to have a SingPass account. Please ensure that you have set up both your SingPass account and application before the course start date. It is mandatory for attendance-taking and the issuance of certificate from WSQ.

      Exit Requirements

      Students are to meet attendance requirements and obtain 'Competent' status in their assessment to successfully complete their courses. Failure to do so will result being held liable for the reimbursement of SkillsFuture Singapore funding to Fashion Makerspace Pte Ltd.

      Assessment Components

      The assessment is based on three components: Theory, Practical and Oral. They are conducted in an open-book format and are fully in English. Students must attain a competent grade and meet attendance requirements in order to successfully graduate from the course.

      Missing of Lessons

      Please arrange for a makeup lesson once you are aware that you won’t be able to attend a session so that you won’t fall behind. Each session covers a lot of content that will be important for the completion of your garments. An administrative fees apply in the event of an absence unless the following documentations are provided:

      • Medical Certificate
      • Hospitalisation Documentations
      • Covid-19: Picture of ART Test Kit Positive result (Do include the current date)
      • Court Attendance Notices
      • Bereavement of immediate family members
      • Letter for overseas work transfer
      Administrative Fees Purpose
      $50/session Make-up slot to an available existing class.
      $50/hour

      1-to-1 Make-up session with our trainer (subjected to trainer’s availability.

      This is in an event where there are no suitable available classes based on the student’s class progress and timeline)

      $30/hour Class extension. Trainers to advise if needed.
      $30/hour Revision class. This is applicable within 3 years after course completion.
      *Additional fees are not claimable from SkillsFuture Credits
      Minimum Class Size

      Our classes require a minimum of 3 pax to commence.

      In an event where the above requirement is not met, the cohort will have to be postponed. This is to ensure that we are able to have more time to gather sufficient sign-ups.
