Sustainable Mending with Sashiko Hana-Fukin Art Stitchery (Intermediate)
1 Sessions (3 hours/session) | Total of 3 hours
Explore the depth of Sashiko Art handstitching. This is an Intermediate Level and participants should have completed the Basic Fundamental Sashiko Art Workshop. Using both the decorative Sashiko stitches of Hitomezashi running stitches and Kugurizashi weaving method, the finished motif is dense, complex and textured. As no two pieces are ever identical; each carries the imprint of the maker’s presence. The process is slow and intentional, inviting the maker into a meditative state where time softens and attention sharpens. Participants will also learn the Darning method of repairing. It reminds us that mending is not just about fixing what is broken, but about honouring what already exists and giving it new life.
