This jam-packed course full of different techniques will have you equipped with simple alterations skills that you can use for your garments, as well as creating a variety of features to modify them. Then you will learn how to create a zipper pouch out of your denim jeans!
Alteration techniques include how to taper and take in your side seams, extending and reducing lengths on your garments and how to create a variety of hems. Create a variety of features to modify and make your pieces more wearable, like adding drawstrings, gathers, straps, elastics, and leave with samples to remind yourself of all these techniques!

- French seaming for adding extension/lengthening
- Measuring and blind-stitch hemming for trousers by machine and by hand
- Tapering/shaping for fit
- Installing a zipper and constructing a pouch
- Decorative hand-stitching
- Distressing denim techniques
- Inserting grommets
- Adding drawstring and elastic hems
- Adding gathers/ ruffles
Please bring along your denim jeans for upcycling (non-stretch denim is preferred). All sample fabrics, sewing tools and machines are provided.
